Prelliminary Task - Reflection

Our Preliminary Task - Codes

Planning

Planning Process

  • Treatment scaffold
  • Storyboard
  • Script
  • Shot list
  • Prop list

What the planning process involved?

The planning process involved us creating a treatment scaffold as it explained our synopsis, characters and our productiion process. We also created a storyboard with the timings and each type of shot described below each sketch. This helped us to film. We then created a short script so our actresses knew what their lines were. We then created a shot and prop list, so we knew the different types of shots we needed to include. The prop list was used to know what props we needed.

How did the planning benefit me?

I personally think the planning was beneficial for me because it helped us know what we were doing. It also helped us know what to film first and which order to film in. It also helped us manage our time so we did not waste any time. The planning made it easier for us to do everything.

Production

Production Process

  • Planned
  • Filmed
  • Edited

For our planning we created the film treatment scaffold, storyboards, script etc. We filmed in school in a computer room as it went with our story line. It did mostly go to plan, there were a few errors like it was quie difficult to find time when we were all free to film. Our work turned out  ot be shorter than  we expected. We could not find a lot of our footage as we were editing so we think it may have got deleted when we were transferring the footage from the camera to the imac.

Did it all go to plan?

I personally do not think it went to plan exactly, as we could not find a lot of our footage as we were editing so we think it may have got deleted. It was also quite difficult to find a time for all of us to film together. We also did not film as much as we thought we did, so our piece of work eneded up being shorter than we planned.

Technology

What new technologies did I encounter in this process?

The DSLR camera and the adobe editing software.
What I have learnt through this process?

I have learnt  how to edit using adobe. I learnt how to include video transitions and how to insert the music.
What new skills will be beneficial moving forward throughout this course?

Learning how to edit and knowing how to use the camera and the different types of equipment for the use of the camera as I this will now help me be more confident throughout the course.

Problem Solving

What went wrong?

Some of the footage we had  filmed before had accidently been deleted somehow. The editing was also hard to get used to so it took us a while before we understood the software.

How did we solve any problems we encountered?
We used the footage we had and we cut some out so it would manage to make sense and whenever we were stuck on editing, we would spend a while on it trying to figure it out ourselves but if we couldn’t figure it out, we always asked for help and watched the teacher do it until we got it.

Teamwork

How well did we work together as a group?

I think we worked well as a group and it was helpful that we all managed to easily agree on something. We all had individual tasks to do so it was easier for everything to be done.
Did I feel as if I contributed fairly to the overall outcome?

I think that I have contributed fairly to this task. I always tried to help give new ideas and to contribute as much as I could.
